For the third consecutive year, the Film Office-Central Macedonia participated in the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and its industry section, the Venice Production Bridge, led by the Vice Governor for Tourism Mrs Vicky Hatzivassiliou.
The Film Office played an active and distinct role in the Venice Production Bridge activities by participating in the official presentation of the European project Green SCAP – Green Skills for Cinema and Audiovisual Productions, which aims to train professionals in sustainable and environmentally friendly audiovisual production practices.
The Green SCAP project is led by Veneto Film Commission (Italy), in collaboration with the Film Office-Central Macedonia, the Hellenic Film Commission of the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED), and the Mediterranean Creative Hub of Mallorca (Spain). The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union.
During the official project presentation, hosted in Venice by lead partner Veneto Film Commission, the significance of the initiative in promoting green filming and the commitment of all partners to advancing sustainability in the audiovisual sector within their respective regions were strongly emphasized.
The event was moderated by Jacopo Chessa, CEO of Veneto Film Commission, and featured welcome remarks by Mrs. Vicky Hatzivassiliou, Vice Governor for Tourism of Central Macedonia, and Mr. Leonidas Christopoulos, CEO of the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center.
Project implementation updates were presented by Lina Mylonaki, Head of the Film Office-Central Macedonia; Stavroula Geronymaki, Head of Promotion at the Hellenic Film Commission (EKKOMED); and Pedro Barbadrillo, Director of the Mediterranean Creative Hub (Mallorca).
Also contributing to the discussion were Luca Ferrario, Director of Trentino Film Commission│Green Film, and Serena Alfieri, film producer and project mentor, who shared insights on their advisory role in the project.
During the event, it was announced that the open call for participation in Green SCAP has been extended until September 20, 2025.
About Green SCAP
Green SCAP – Green Skills for Cinema and Audiovisual Productions is a European initiative designed to strengthen sustainability in audiovisual productions by training sustainability managers with specialized skills to work effectively in the film industry.
The project combines both theoretical and hands-on training through on-site and online workshops, selecting twelve (12) professionals specializing in sustainability from the partner regions.
From Greece, four (4) participants will be selected, with priority given to professionals from Central Macedonia.
Green SCAP activities will begin in January 2026 in Venice, continue in March 2026 in Thessaloniki during the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, and conclude in July 2026 in Mallorca.
