The Film Office Central Macedonia participated in the 5th Evia Film Project (23–27 June 2026), the “green” initiative of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Northern Evia. The delegation was led by the Regional Governor for Tourism, Vicky Hadjivassiliou, who attended the opening ceremony of the event.
Focusing on the hidden and fascinating world of forests, the 5th Evia Film Project took place in Edipsos, Limni and Rovies on Northern Evia, featuring a rich program of film screenings, masterclasses, talks, and workshops for children and teenagers. The event invited both audiences and industry professionals to reconnect with the fragile, primordial and ever-changing world of nature.
“Evia Film Project has now established itself as a highly successful sustainability initiative, aiming at the tourism and economic regeneration of Northern Evia following the devastating wildfires of 2021. What is particularly important is that its philosophy was not only to support the region, but above all to change the narrative: from a place of destruction to a place of creativity, culture, and sustainable development, with the spa town of Edipsos—a historic destination with centuries-long traditions in wellness tourism—at its heart.
The Thessaloniki International Film Festival is one of our strategic partners in Central Macedonia, with whom we work systematically to promote our Region as a film destination. Recent collaborations with the Festival’s Agora, including the prestigious EAVE Producers Workshop held last autumn and the successful Green SCAP workshop on the green transition of the audiovisual industry, which we co-organised with the Hellenic Film Commission of EKKOMED, are excellent examples of this approach.
Our presence in Evia aims to foster new collaborations with the Festival, centred on our shared vision for green filmmaking and the strengthening of audiovisual creation in our region, demonstrating how culture and creativity can positively contribute to every corner of Greece,” stated the Regional Governor for Tourism, Mrs Vicky Hadjivassiliou.
The 5th Evia Film Project was organised with the support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos, the Municipality of Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna, and the Evia Port Authority.
