Landmarks of Central Macedonia Through the Lens of “Time Machine” at the 27th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival
The Film Office of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the investigative television show Time Machine, presents well-known and lesser-known landmarks of Central Macedonia that have “starred” in the show’s historical narratives, marking its 20-year presence on Greek television.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the John Cassavetes Cinema (Pier A, Port of Thessaloniki) from 15:30 to 17:30, as part of the parallel events of the 27th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival.
The creators of Time Machine, Christos Vasilopoulos and Dimitris Petropoulos, will showcase their methodology in journalistic research and location selection, regarding witness accounts and the visual composition of reenactment scenes.
Through audiovisual examples from the show’s broadcasts on COSMOTE HISTORY, the two journalists will explain how they choose locations related to each episode’s theme—whether due to direct historical references or because they closely resemble the era being portrayed.
From monasteries, abandoned villages, castles, and prisons to canals, stone bridges, and rural livestock facilities, iconic landmarks across Central Macedonia—spanning from Chionochori, Serres, to Petra, Olympus, and Kromni, Pella—will be highlighted in the event.
Through screenings and discussions, the creators of Time Machine will take the audience on a journey through these emblematic locations, bringing to life the rich history and cultural heritage of Central Macedonia through documented storytelling and original documentaries.
Viky Chatzivasileiou, Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism of Central Macedonia, will officially welcome the event.
Speakers include:
- Christos Vasilopoulos, Director and Host of Time Machine
- Dimitris Petropoulos, Editor-in-Chief of Time Machine
A Q&A session with the audience will follow!
