REGION OF CENTRAL MACEDONIA THE FILM OFFICE-CENTRAL MACEDONIA
The Film Office-Central Macedonia is a regional film office, based in Thessaloniki, the capital of the Region of Central Macedonia, in Northern Greece.
It is the first regional film office to be launched as a public institution in Greece and it was founded in 2020 on the initiative of the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia Mr Apostolos Tzitzikostas, who leads the Region’s effort to become a competitive filming destination.
The Film Office-Central Macedonia runs as a regional public service, with the scope to successfully facilitate audiovisual productions of all types, which are filmed in the region. It operates as a free service for all audiovisual professionals who film their projects in Central Macedonia.
The Film Office-Central Macedonia is an EUFCN member (European Film Commissions Network), as well as a member of the National Film Offices Network of EKOME (National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication).
Services:
- Information and assistance concerning all stages of an audiovisual production (eg. filming permits, tax incentives, location scouting, assistance for a successful collaboration with local partners and companies etc)
- Letter of facilitation with the scope to support all audiovisual projects of all budgets and genres, which are filmed in Central Macedonia.
- A comprehensive Industry Guide of the Region of Central Macedonia in order to support and network local professionals, directly or indirectly linked to the audiovisual sector (e.g. accommodation, catering, rental services and equipment etc)
- Networking foreign productions which are shot in Central Macedonia with local professionals and companies
- Location library which advertises Central Macedonia as a fascinating outdoor studio, providing a variety of choices in different locations regionwide, which are easily accessible
- Collaboration and networking with national and local institutions, both private and public, in order to best facilitate audiovisual productions in the region
- Organizing events and synergies for the promotion of Central Macedonia as an ideal filming destination.
- Promoting participation and synergies in educational and training events for audiovisual professionals as well as for the general public, in order to establish a “film friendly” environment in Central Macedonia
- Participation and synergies in film exhibitions, markets and festivals in Greece and abroad in order to enhance the region’s extroversion as well as to promote the region’s distinct cinematic identity.
