Led by the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivassiliou, the Film Office of the Region of Central Macedonia participated this year in the Marché du Film of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, one of the largest film markets internationally.
The Film Office of the Region of Central Macedonia participated for the fourth consecutive year in the Marché du Film, based at the Greek national pavilion in Cannes, coordinated by EKKOMED, while also attending the established reception for Greek cinema, held by the Thessaloniki Film Festival and EKKOMED, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
The Central Region Film Office team held a series of contacts, focused on informing and networking with producers, international organizations and companies in the audiovisual sector. It also participated in meetings with European film organizations to implement important synergies for the local creative industry, which are currently underway.
” This year’s, fourth consecutive participation in the Marché du Film – the only representation of a Greek Region’s Film Office in Cannes this year – brings us tangible results, honorary participations and new important collaborations with European film organizations and bodies in the coming period. Our constant presence and participation in the networking activities of the two major international Film Commissions associations – the EUFCN ( European Film Commissions Network ) and the AFCI ( Association of Film Commissioners International ), as well as our honorary participation in the national delegation of Greece for the anniversary event of the ten years of EFAD ( European Film Agencies Directors ) proves that our strategy for extroversion and the promotion of Central Macedonia as a film destination is in the right direction. Having already doubled Central Macedonia’s participation in international film markets last year, we continue dynamically with targeted actions to attract audiovisual producers to our Region and to implement innovative European projects for the education and training of local professionals in our region. We are utilizing all available resources – from development tools to our exceptional locations – in order to strengthen our potential in the field of film tourism and, at the same time, to promote sustainable filmmaking practices in our region”, pointed out the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivassiliou .
This year, the response from audiovisual industry professionals to the Marché du Film in Cannes was impressive and equaled last year’s record attendance, as more than 15,000 accredited audiovisual professionals from 140 countries attended. The Marché du Film continues to attract a global audience, with more than 600 exhibitors from the international audiovisual industry, new country presences and the most extensive market internationally.
